Could she keep a secret?

When bookworm Macy Bryant starts her senior year, she doesn't expect to have a year so full of secrets, like the unpublished manuscript written by her deceased father found forgotten in the attic that she's afraid to ask her mother about, or the disastrous date that makes Macy question whether she's just too straight-laced to be "normal." But the biggest secret of all is the one that binds Macy to Clark, her next door neighbor and captain of the football team, a secret that also threatens to keep them apart for good.

Bookworm Macy Bryant expects her biggest senior-year challenges to be taking her mother's English class and completing her SAT. When the new guy everyone is talking about asks Macy out for her first date ever, she wonders if she wiill finally have a "normal" teenage life.

But, Macy doesn't expect to have a year so full of secrets, like the unpublished manuscript written by her deceased father found forgotten in the attic that she's afraid to ask her mother about and that makes her question the writing abilities she's always taken such pride in. She also doesn't understand the secret behind Clark Ransom's sudden interest in her. Even though they have grown up as next door neighbors, Macy is sure Clark, the captain of the football team, has forgotten she exists, especially since he started dating head cheerleader Melanie their freshman year.

Too quickly, Macy's senior year becomes anything but normal. Her big date is a disaster that makes Macy question whether she's just too straight-laced to be like everyone else. Clark vacillates between liking her and pushing her away. And everyone around Macy seems to be in a loving relationship except her, including her mother and step-dad.

And then comes the biggest secret of all, the one that binds Macy to Clark--and threatens to keep them apart for good. Because when everyone in the school decides that Clark and Macy are dating, Clark convinces her to pretend like they are, even though Macy knows Clark still has feelings for Melanie. Can she be so close to Clark and protect her own heart?

Between the challenges of classwork, college testing, and her part-time job, along with the temptations all teenagers face as they push the boundaries between childhood and adulthood, Macy struggles to stay true to the Biblical instructions that are the basis of her faith. Only Macy's faith helps to keep her on a straight path when the challenges of high school threaten to keep her from making good, and Godly, choices.
